Cladding panel
A cladding panel, also known as a curtain wall, is an individual non-load bearing unit that fulfils an enclosing and decorative function. The single skin units are used to face walls, columns, spandrel panels, and other structures. The cladding panel is produced on tables or in battery molds.
Precast cladding panel – a decorative non-load-bearing facade enclosure
The architectural design of the cladding panel is completely free. A gray wall is a good option when searching for a non-decorated plain precast facade product without insulation. On the other hand, the surface of the gray wall can also be textured by using, for example, form liners. When used as the facade enclosure, various other finishes can be applied, like pigments, grit blasting, polishing, can be faced by bricks or tiles.
From the structural point of view, this non-load-bearing wall panel is designed to take primarily only loads caused by the manufacture, handling, wind, seismic forces required to keep the attached to the frame. The cladding panel can be attached separately to the external building frame, usually column and beam structure, or it can be self-bearing.
Application
The building’s frame supports the precast cladding panel’s weight, which is why the panel is an ideal solution for the external facade. The cladding panel suits both new construction and renovation projects.
Advantages of precast cladding panels include:
- Cost-effective
- Fire resistant
- Durable
- Multifaceted finish options
- Requires little maintenance
